LEVEL 1 - Introductory Programme

The Introductory Programme is the starting point for all new programmes being initiated by FTH:K in collaboration with programme partners.

 
 

Dominican School for Deaf Children

WHO: Deaf learners at Dominican School 
AGES: 15 - 18 years
WHERE: Wynberg, Western Cape
WHEN: Tuesday and Friday (3 classes weekly)
WHAT: (Depending of the annual makeup of learners) Creative Movement, Physical Performance, Mask Work, Graphic Mime, Physical Animation, Theatre Appreciation, Theatre Making, Theatre Design, Identifying Jobs in Arts and Culture, and Capoeira. The final 4 months of the programme are dedicated to the conceptualisation, rehearsing and presenting of their final performance-assessment pieces in November at the school's Arts and Culture Day.

 

Noluthando School for the Deaf

WHO: Deaf learners at Noluthando School
AGES: 16 - 20 yrs
WHERE: Khayelitsha, Western Cape 
WHEN: Annual residency programmes
WHAT: Creative Movement, Physical Performance, Physical Animation. Each Residency ends with a work-in-progress showing, and a final performance is presented at the school's Closing Day

 

National Institute for the Deaf

WHO: Deaf adults involved in NID
AGES: 20 - 40 years
WHERE: Worcester, Western Cape
WHEN: Annual performance/workshop/lecture programmes
WHAT: Performances from various LEVELs of the programme followed by lecture-demonstrations and discussions

 

De La Bat School

WHO: Deaf learners at De La Bat School
AGES: 16 - 20 years
