The show comprises of different recognisable scenarios of our everyday life taking you from an onset of laughter to the heartbreak of love- the show covers a large range of emotions and up to 8 different characters to express them. Devised and directed by Emilie Starke; featuring Marlon Snyders, Christopher Beukes, Tomri Steyn and Sinethemba Mgebisa. Next touring in Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal and the Western Cape.
Shortcuts was first given birth in the form of "Masked in 3 acts", a full mask performance originally devised to be performed at Herschel Girl's High School on International Day of People with Disabilities (3 December).
Shortcuts is now a series of short stories in mask (both Full Mask and the smallest mask of all- the red nose), told through FTH:K's signature style of visual, physical theatre. The show comprises of different recognisable scenarios of our everyday life: an exam hall where nerves and stress prevail; an upmarket restaurant where a man is about to propose to his partner; the showmanship of the failed clown act. Shortcuts is non-verbal performance, where nothing is said but much is understood through the refined and detailed craftsmanship of mask work. Taking you from an onset of laughter to the heartbreak of love, the show covers a range of emotions and up to 8 different characters to express them.
